San Mateo-based startup Sharegrove announced that it has been acquired by social networking giant Facebook. Sharegrove is a group chatting client that provides a way for online friends to have private conversations through the web, including sharing of websites and various forms of multimedia. It also featured built-in search functions and Facebook friends list interconnectivity.
In light of its acquisition, Sharegrove has disabled new user registration and has begun winding down its operations, according to a message posted on its website. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
