Local news company Examiner.com has acquired participatory news network NowPublic. The deal is part of an Examiner.com expansion that includes a 200% growth since the beginning of the year to include 15,000 writers in 109 American cities.

Vancouver, British Columbia-based NowPublic will provide search and publishing technology, including its Emmy nominated real-time mechanism for scanning online conversations and an enhanced publishing platform for Examiner.com writers, which are expected to number 30,000 by the end of the year.
