Ex Libris Group announced the beginning of the beta test phase for Primo Central, the company's upcoming scholarly e-content aggregator. The beta test will be carried out at 14 institutions. Primo Central gives library users access to a centralized index of data harvested from both primary and secondary publishers and aggregators.

Primo Central operates as a service through a cloud computing environment. Users can simultaneously search locally managed collections and global repositories, receiving search results blended into a single relevance-ranked list. Libraries can also tailor Primo Central towards their local collections for ease of use.
