Ex Libris Releases Primo 3.0, Partners with Gale

May 04, 2010

Ex Libris Group announced the general release of version 3.0 of the Primo discovery and delivery solution. The major new functionality in version 3.0 is the result of continued collaboration with the rapidly expanding international Primo community, consisting of over 270 sites that span 29 countries on six continents.

The new version combines a simplified, modernized user interface with enhanced search and display options, the integration of OPAC functionality, and support for seamless searching in the Primo Central index of scholarly materials.

In related news, Ex Libris Group announced that an agreement with Gale will bring a number of that company's academic databases to the Primo Central mega-aggregate of scholarly e-content. The flagship full-text periodical databases Academic OneFile and General OneFile, together with the Eighteenth Century Collections Online and Sabin America resources, are now available via Primo Central.

Gale is the most recent aggregator to make its content available through Primo Central and has provided metadata for indexing within the service. Primo Central provides a centralized index comprising data harvested from primary and secondary publishers and aggregators.
