Enhancements Made to Copyright Clearance Center's Rightsphere

Apr 29, 2008

Copyright Clearance Center (CCC), a provider of licensing services and web-based tools, announced a set of enhancements to Rightsphere, the company's rights advisory and management tool. Rightsphere is a web-based application that allows general counsels, information managers, and corporate librarians to automate rights management at a granular level so that the value of expensive site licenses are maximized and the nuances of corporate content use policies are instantly communicated at the point of use to employees around the globe. Rightsphere's administrative application covers a range of content use activities, such as sharing content in a PowerPoint presentation; within government and regulatory submissions; and in CD-ROMs and flash drives. It also takes into account "time bound rights"--restrictions on content use within time periods specified by a license agreement. In addition, Rightsphere incorporates context; for example, geographic, subscription, and spending boundaries can be centrally managed.

Rightsphere includes a database for content license terms from all sources--publishers, content aggregators, and others. In addition, the tool generates reports on content usage to help companies fully leverage content assets and guide their information buying decisions.
