Elsevier Launches Apps for Library Idea Challenge

May 19, 2011

Elsevier is launching a contest to create app ideas for its SciVerse service. Dubbed the SciVerse Apps for Library Idea Challenge, the international competition will encourage librarians and information professionals to come up with app ideas that respond to challenges faced by info pros when dealing with the search and discovery of information.

Entrants can submit specific ideas for SciVerse apps, and selected app concepts will be posted on the challenge website and open to commentary from peers and the public. Two grand-prize winners will be selected: one by a panel of judges and one by community vote. The winners will each receive a cash prize of approx. $1,000 USD, and the winners' names and concepts will be featured in the relevant Elsevier library and information science journals.
