Elsevier B.V. launched SciVerse Scopus Alerts Individual, an iPhone and Android app for noninstitutional subscribers. The app allows users to peruse the Scopus database, which contains nearly 18,000 journal titles from more than 5,000 international publishers.

SciVerse Scopus Alerts Individual offers a search and citation alerts function, which allows researchers to receive updates on new publications relevant to their fields of interest as well as notifications on citations of their work by peers. Users can also share links to articles through an email function.

The app is available for a free 30-day trial and a subsequent annual fee; it can be downloaded through the iTunes store and the Android Market.
