Ektron has released Ektron CMS300 version 3.0. This version of Ektron's XML content management solution offers a new online image editor, Ektron WebImageFX, (a browser-based tool for image manipulation,) along with new Calendar and Forms Modules. New features include image access and editing; forms creation, deployment, and use; and calendar functionality directly within the content management system.
Ektron CMS300 is designed to organize, simplify, and automate the way Web content is authored, edited, published, managed, and reused. The system ships with Ektron eWebEditPro+XML, a browser-based WYSIWYG editor.
With Ektron's Calendar Module and Forms Module, users can create, use, and manage event calendars or forms within Web sites or browser-based applications. Calendar presentation parameters can be specified (height and width, viewable weekend dates, etc.,) and colors and fonts can be controlled by stylesheets. Hyperlinks can be added to content within the calendar. The Forms Module delivers a new forms toolbar built into Ektron eWEP+XML. Users can create forms-based interfaces with elements such as drop down lists, check boxes, radio buttons, or text area fields. Developers add a calendar or form by inserting a tag into a Web page.
Ektron CMS300 also ships with WebImageFX, a new Ektron product. This browser-based image editor allows users with a Web browser to access, edit, and manage images, photos, or other graphics. Ektron's browser-based tool is intended to deliver functionality similar to familiar Windows-based graphics applications, and is designed for integration into any dynamic Web application server environment. Ektron WebImageFX simplifies image viewing and editing by replacing the need for a separate client-based image editor. If working within a content management system or other application, the user selects the image from within existing content, then edits it directly via the browser using Ektron WebImageFX's editing options.
Ektron WebImageFX offers image editing functions including brightness, color depth, contrast, sharpen, crop, erase, freehand drawing, rotate, horizontal/vertical flip, zoom in/out, lines, shapes, text overlay, dimensions, undo/redo, copy/cut/paste/delete, and more. Developers can add or remove toolbar icons according to end-user or site needs. WebImageFX includes client- and server-side APIs to allow for customization and
extension of the product.
