EMC Corporation, a provider of products, services, and solutions for information management and storage, has introduced EMC Documentum Information Rights Management (IRM) Services and EMC Documentum Records Manager 5.3. The two content management software offerings are unified with the EMC Documentum enterprise content management (ECM) platform. Both are designed to help companies respond to changing requirements while enabling secure information sharing and disposal.
Documentum IRM Services combines EMC content management software with information rights management technology from the acquisition of Authentica, Inc. The software gives content owners control over information access and use, including the ability to restrict user access, set up watermarks, block printing, or forwarding to unauthorized recipients and revoke the ability to open a file. It maintains a complete audit trail of document activity and allows administrators to change user privileges at any time, even as files are copied or distributed outside the corporate firewall. By leveraging the Documentum platform, Documentum IRM Services can extend the security of information that is in transit, giving customers levels of control over information, wherever it is located.
Documentum Records Manager 5.3 provides control over the corporate records, from creation and protection to access and destruction. The software takes advantage of a service-oriented architecture (SOA), designed to simplify integration with business applications and internal systems. This new modular SOA approach controls the disposal of non-record documents.
