BEST PRACTICES SERIES

EBSCO Publishing merged with the H.W. Wilson Company to improve discovery services for libraries. EBSCO databases will have enhanced indexing because the Wilson controlled vocabularies will be integrated into EBSCO's controlled vocabularies. Subscribers of Wilson databases will be able to search the EBSCO Discovery Service for all Wilson indexing, abstracts, and full text. EBSCOhost will take advantage of this indexing in its search and relevancy ranking algorithms.

In the next few months, Wilson databases will be loaded onto EBSCOhost. EBSCO will maintain WilsonWeb until all Wilson databases are available on EBSCOhost and customers have been transitioned to EBSCOhost. Wilson subject thesaurus and Wilson "names" authority file database products are known for their quality indexing, and the WilsonWeb platform leverages this indexing within search.
