BEST PRACTICES SERIES

EBSCO Publishing (EBSCO), provider of point-of-care reference and medical research products such as DynaMed, CINAHL, and Health Library, offers hospitals and medical practices a means of integrating EBSCO resources with any Electronic Health or Medical Record (EHR or EMR) system.

With the EBSCOhost Integration Toolkit (EIT), EBSCO provides integration between EBSCO's online clinical, nursing care, patient education, and medical research resources and all electronic medical and patient record applications. For customers of any online EHR/EMR vendor, the EBSCOhost Integration Toolkit provides a set of flexible web services based on XML/SOAP standards for establishing direct links from their EHR/EMRs to applicable clinical reference resources from EBSCO. This new offering provides customers with multiple integration methods allowing them to submit customized search and retrieval requests as well as to tailor the format of the retrieved XML content to suit the needs of their users and internal websites or applications. Once implemented, the EIT can help clinicians at the point-of-care by allowing them to select topics from an EHR/EMR and retrieve the relevant, evidence-based condition or procedure summary from an EBSCO resource such as DynaMed.
