EBSCO has also announced that EBSCO Publishing and Salem Press, as part of their ongoing database partnership, have announced the release of the MagillOnHistory database. This resource provides access to a collection of historical research information. MagillOnHistory, available via EBSCOhost, combines content from Salem Press's history reference sets in a single database. MagillOnHistory is comprised of approximately 10,000 records; more than 1,800 historical images; charts, graphs, and maps; and an index of more than 13,000 names. In addition, this database includes more than 4,000 biographical essays that examine the lives of more than 3,800 historical figures. With essays on people, events and cultures ranging as far back as 25,000 BCE, MagillOnHistory offers extensive coverage of the ancient world; American History, including colonial and pre-colonial US and Canada; as well as cultures and civilizations in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the Americas and Oceania. MagillOnHistory provides coverage of the 20th century, with special focus on economics, science, human rights, the environment and the arts.
EBSCO Publishing has also announced the availability of the new Inspec Archive--Science Abstracts 1898-1968 database via EBSCOhost. Inspec Archive, created by IEE (Institution of Electrical Engineers), provides access to the digitized version of the entire collection of Science Abstracts Journals, which was the precursor to the current day Inspec database. This database provides coverage dating from 1898 to 1968 and contains over 870,000 records each retaining its original classifications. Inspec Archive indexing aligns to the current Inspec Thesaurus Terms and Inspec Classification Codes. This additional indexing assists in creating a search environment for users of both Inspec and the Inspec Archive. This database features longer abstracts, which often include tables, graphs, and figures from the original source document. Inspec Archive also contains conference proceedings, books, reports, and dissertations. Institutions are able to access both Inspec and Inspec Archive via the EBSCOhost platform.
