Dow Jones Indexes launched the Dow Jones U.S. Venture Capital Index, which is designed to measure changes in the market value of venture capital-financed companies in the U.S. This new index was licensed to Chicago Alternative Investment Partners to serve as a basis for financial products.
The Dow Jones U.S. Venture Capital Index's methodology was developed through a collaboration between Dow Jones Indexes and Sand Hill Economics. All values are based on a combination of values reported to DowJones VentureSource as well as value estimates based on Sand Hill's econometric methods. The selection pool for the index is based on the Dow Jones VentureSource database, which tracks more than 14,000 private investment firms and more than 48,000 venture-backed companies in all industries and stages of development.
