Discovery Communications, the parent company for the Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, has selected a Spectra T950 tape library from data protection company Spectra Logic to support its Latin American operations, based in Miami. The Spectra library will house Discovery's 24,000 hours of MPEG2 video content, which serves as the basis for programming that is broadcast in 35 languages to more than 175 countries and territories. These archives can be stored in about 20 square feet of floor space.
