Digg Automates Facebook Sharing

Dec 22, 2011

News aggregator Digg is using Facebook's new Open Graph to instantly share the stories its users are reading in Digg over Facebook. Stories being read on Digg through Facebook will automatically appear on news feeds and as Timeline posts. Digg also launched a Newsbar that appears at the top of Digg pages reached through Facebook. A prominent On/Off button on the Newsbar controls social sharing.

The integration of the Newsbar helps users monitor what content is being shared across Facebook, and users will have the option to remove shared content from news feeds afterwards. The social sharing feature is designed to drive traffic to Digg through the Newsbar, rather than just to the article itself.
