Ingram Content Group announced an agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense to offer audiobooks to members of the armed forces and their dependents through Ingram's MyiLibrary e-content aggregation platform. Under the agreement, almost 3,000 titles will be available through the MyiLibrary audiobook inventory from companies such as Blackstone Audio, Books on Tape, Encyclopaedia Britannica, and Penguin Group. The audiobook titles will be added to the more than 500 e-book titles acquired by the DOD over the past two years.

The DOD audiobooks will be available to overseas troops through the websites of its Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) branch. Users will be authenticated through PASS (Personal Account Self Service), a new methodology that integrates with the DOD portals and which is based on the specific IP addresses of participating libraries. Once access has been established, the books will be available to the user anywhere in the world through their personal account.
