DataPower Releases XS40 XML Security Gateway V3.2; Integrates XML Security Gateway With IBM’s Tivoli Federated Identity Manager

May 20, 2005

DataPower, a provider of application-oriented networking hardware, has announced the availability of its firmware release v3.2 for its DataPower XS40 XML Security Gateway. Shipping for over two-and-a-half years, firmware release v3.2 for the XS40 XML Security Gateway represents further security and ease of use advancements for this product, including: WS-Trust support, government-grade XML threat protection, service level management, and certified SAML 2.0 support.

Powered by DataPower's wirespeed XML processing technology, the XS40 XML Security Gateway is a member of DataPower's application-oriented networking product family, which includes the XA35 XML Accelerator, the XI50 XML Integration Appliance, and the XG4 XML Chipset for OEMs. The XS40 XML Security Gateway combines hardened security, wirespeed performance, and algorithms for XML threat protection and access management, including XML firewall, XDoS protection, SOAP filtering, fine-grained access control, XML schema validation, digital signatures, field-level XML encryption, XML/SOAP routing, and service virtualization.

The XS40 provides both standards support (such as WS-Security 1.0, SAML, XACML, XPath, XKMS, WSDM, SSL, LDAP, and RADIUS), and integration with existing security, management and application infrastructure (such as IBM WebSphere, MQ Series, Tivoli, CA eTrust, CA Unicenter, F5 BIG-IP iControl, Sun Identity Server, Netegrity, Oblix, and others).

DataPower has also extended its relationship with IBM by integrating DataPower's XS40 XML Security Gateway with IBM's new identity management solution, IBM's Tivoli Federated Identity Manager. This integrated DataPower-IBM solution has been tested WS-Trust Ready for Tivoli by IBM and leverages DataPower's Web services security to enable customers to securely manage access control policies in Tivoli Federated Identity Manager between previously silo-ed islands of identity and security information using the XS40 as a central policy enforcement point for XML Web services. DataPower's integration with Tivoli FIM extends DataPower's existing integration with IBM Tivoli Access Manager for e-Business and further enhances DataPower's AAA framework for federated identity, multimodal authentication, and fine-grained authorization of SOAP requests.
