Oct 28, 2014

With companies and sensitive consumer information increasingly targeted by cyber attacks, the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and Venable LLP released a new guide to state laws on data breach notification. The Essential Guide to Data Breach Notification is being distributed at DMA2014.

The average cost to a company to investigate and respond to a data breach is $5.9 million, according to the 2014 Cost of Data Breach Study: United States.  Published by the Ponemon Institute and sponsored by IBM, the study also reported a 15% increase in these costs over the previous year.
