Thomson Scientific has announced that the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries, Switzerland's nationwide consortium of university and research facility libraries, has subscribed to the full data set of Web of Science. As the multidisciplinary bibliographic resource, accessed via the ISI Web of Knowledge, Web of Science offers backfiles to 1900, with the newly added collection of scientific research information from 1944 to 1900.

With multidisciplinary content from more than 8,700 journals, Web of Science is a scientific information resource of choice for information professionals and researchers worldwide. The Web of Science feature-cited reference searching allows users to navigate forward and backward through the multidisciplinary literature to uncover information relevant to their work.

Along with Web of Science, the Swiss Consortium of Academic Libraries presently has access to other components of ISI Web of Knowledge, including Essential Science Indicators--a resource that ranks the performance of scientists, journals, institutions, and countries across 22 fields; Journal Citation Reports--with its "Impact Factor,"; and INSPEC--a bibliographic information service that provides access to scientific and technical literature.
