Comcast Corp. introduced a new service that allows Xfinity subscribers to watch live TV shows on their iPad via a set-top box called AnyPlay. Through the Xfinity TV app on the iPad and their home Wi-Fi router, AnyPlay allows users to watch the channels that are included in their subscription lineup.
The Xfinity TV app also offers 8,000 hours of free On Demand movies and TV shows. According to a statement, Comcast expects to bring On Demand content to more devices, such as Xbox 360 and Samsung internet-connected TVs, in the near future.
AnyPlay is currently available for free to Xfinity HD Triple Play customers near Denver, Colo., and Nashville, Tenn. Comcast will roll the service out to more markets in the coming months and make it available on the Motorola Xoom tablet.
