Chrome Announces Updates

Dec 09, 2010

According to Google's Chrome Blog, Google Instant has been added to the browser window, allowing faster navigation to websites. Google has also overhauled V8, its JavaScript engine. Google claims V8 will now run JavaScript programs twice as fast as before.

Google is also launching a pilot program to obtain feedback about its Chrome OS software. The company will provide test notebooks loaded with Chrome to qualified U.S. users, developers, schools, and businesses. Google will expand its program to other countries after proper certification is obtained. Acer and Samsung are set to release Chrome notebooks for sale in the first half of 2011, with more manufacturers will follow.

Finally, the Chrome Web Store is now open. The store is only available in the U.S. but will expand to many countries and currencies early next year.
