Boston College, University of California at Irvine, and University of Memphis have selected Xythos Software, a developer of Internet file management software, to implement file management solutions for their campus communities. More than 20 colleges and universities have licensed the company's products to address file sharing needs both on and off campus. With Xythos, students, faculty, and administrators can access and share any type of education related content including course syllabi, records, lesson plans, and assignments from any Internet connection while maintaining control and security of this information. The Xythos WFS is standards-based and supports most Web and application server environments, as well as all network storage standards. Support for Internet standards such as HTTP and WebDAV deliver file sharing features including file versioning, check in/out, and logging that campus wide collaboration requires, while the company's Intellittach technology is designed to reduce the burden on university messaging systems. Xythos has also partnered with Educause, the higher education information technology association, to help educate colleges and universities about the cost saving benefits of Internet File Management.
