Blackwell's Book Services, a book supplier to the library market, has announced that its Collection Manager purchasing system for libraries now includes a full-text preview feature powered by ebrary, a provider of information distribution and retrieval technology. Available immediately, the new technology is intended to help publishers increase sales of print books to libraries by showcasing exact replicas of books, particularly pre-publication and front-list titles. Additionally, it allows libraries to make more informed purchases by searching and browsing books in full-text before ordering, thus reducing the number of returns. Collection Manager, Blackwell's Web-based collection development and acquisitions tool, provides access to a database of over 2.3 million bibliographic records representing scholarly and academic titles. Tables of Content (TOC), author affiliations, and information from book jackets are also included.
