Barnes & Noble Momentarily Stocks Amazon Titles

Oct 04, 2012

Barnes & Nobles consumers should be forgiven if they're more than a little confused by the appearance and then disappearance for Amazon books on their shelves-yes, the actual, physical shelves. Some Amazon titles are being published and distributed by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and they popped up on Barnes & Noble's shelves. But according to paidContent, the books were quickly pulled from shelves when an email was issued asking the local stores to take it down.

Barnes & Noble had previously said it would not stock Amazon's print titles, so some customers who follow the publishing industry closely were a bit confused-though it's unlikely that the average consumer noticed or cared. Still, one does have to wonder why Barnes & Noble is willing to cede all of the print sales of these titles to its competitors.
