CrossRef has selected Atypon Systems, Inc. to develop and support a new query system for its reference linking service. The two companies have an 8-year business relationship (Atypon developed and supports the current query system). Since the current system was implemented in 2003, the number of queries has grown from 10 million to more than 281 million, and while 18% of queries in 2003 resulted in matches, 55% do today.
As a result, the new query system will employ a more scalable architecture to increase capacity and to ensure effective query response times as demand increases.
Both organizations will own the intellectual property of the system, and Atypon will provide ongoing development and support.
