The Atlantic Media Co. plans to launch a business site, on track to go up later this year, that will focus on global business, reports paidContent.org. Kevin Delaney, former managing editor of The Wall Street Journal Online, has been announced as the new Atlantic site's editor-in-chief.
"The new digital-first brand will provide high-quality content and services to business executives navigating the increasingly complex global economy," the company said in a statement. The business brand will be based in New York -- rather than the Atlantic's headquarters in Washington, D.C. -- with additional offices in Asia and Europe.
Atlantic had previously tried to lift a business site off the ground in the later months of 2009 and into 2010. The initial effort was headed by Slate magazine founder Michael Kinsley. The site's launch was delayed multiple times before Kinsley left and Atlantic officially announced in mid-2010 that it was suspending the project.
