Amazon tantalized readers and the press-and ticked off some authors-when it briefly posted a test page for something called Kindle Unlimited on Wednesday before pulling it down again-though, according to Gigaom, some test pages can still be found. The service promises unlimited access to over 600,000 ebooks and audiobooks for $9.99 a month.
Authors and publishers were not necessarily elated about the move. Over on Teleread, complaints for the Amazon forums were listed. Authors would, reportedly, be paid from the Kindle Select fund when a user reads more than 10% of a book. Until the service goes fully live, however, it's not certain what the exact terms of the Kindle Unlimited would be.
