Amazon announced the opening of the Italian Kindle Store and the Spanish Kindle Store at Amazon.it and Amazon.es, respectively. The Italian Kindle Store offers more than 16,000 Italian-language ebooks, while the Spanish Kindle Store boasts 22,000 ebooks in Spanish; both offer access to a total of more than 900,000 titles in all languages. Italian-language Kindles and Spanish-language Kindles have also made their debut on the market, each selling for €99.
Authors and publishers also now have the option to make their books available in the Amazon.it and Amazon.es stores using Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Using the Spanish-language and Italian-language KDP websites, authors and publishers can maintain the rights to their books while expanding their readership to more than 100 countries. Amazon's 70% royalty option is now available for books sold to Kindle users in Spain and Italy, in addition to the U.S., the U.K., Germany, Austria, and France.
