Amazon.com released a version of its Kindle reader application for the Blackberry mobile platform, giving Blackberry users access to Amazon-purchased ebooks without a Kindle itself. The reader is currently only available to users in the US, and the company gave no indication of whether or not an international version is planned for users outside the U.S.
A similar application was released last March for the iPhone. Amazon also plans similar versions for Macintosh computers and the soon-to-be-released iPad. All versions released so far give users access to the traditional reader functions, as well as some of the Kindle's additional features, such as bookmark syncing.
