AOL Closes Acquisition of The Huffington Post

AOL announced that it has completed its acquisition of news and opinion web newspaper The Huffington Post for $315 million. AOL will integrate The Huffington Post with AOL Media and AOL Local, resulting in the formation of the Huffington Post Media Group, a source of news, opinion, entertainment, community, and digital information.

Arianna Huffington, co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, will be president and editor-in-chief of the new group. According to AOL, the combined media group will have an estimated user base of 117 million unique visitors a month in the United States, totaling 253 million around the world.
