LYRASIS Offers Technology Services for Open Source

May 03, 2011

LYRASIS, a regional non-profit membership organization for libraries, was recently awarded a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to fund the startup of LYRASIS Technology Services (LTS), a new program that supports the adoption and use of open source software and systems in libraries. With the support of the $486,000 Mellon grant, LTS will provide decision-support services, consulting, and education, and hosted SaaS (software-as-a-service) implementation and support.

An expert advisory panel made up of professionals in the open source technology field was established to provide guidance in the development of the LTS program and direction for open source community development. LYRASIS provides libraries and information professionals with opportunities for networking and collaboration and offers innovative solutions and cost savings for products and services through group purchasing.
