David Roe: In the content management space, for years, we've had this idea of component-based architectures? How many people have heard of the word "component," or think of it like as a widget, or anything like that?
In content management, one of the more annoying things with component based architectures from a few years ago, is that, you have a banner you're writing a page, this is looking good and then I got this other control, and you've dropped in on a page and it breaks your banner. But it has nothing to do with the banner; it was a promo.
Why does CSS on the promo interfere with the other thing?
And so, what you're looking at in that situation is actually a delay, 'cause now you have to send it back, we have to figure out how it works in this situation, or that situation. Everything sort of interfering, and the reason is that as a web content management system, it understands the idea of encapsulation and components, and widgets, and dropping on there.
For years, the web frameworks that we are using in leveraging did not understand those things, they did not understand encapsulation. And they did not understand anything else. They were like, you put it on the page, it might affect something else down the line. Frankly, even the newest levels of just what's native in your browser, the idea of encapsulation inside of a component has become a very real thing.
When you're able to combine that both with the component based architectures of the content management system and the functional abilities that you can have leveraging the microservices. They actually have the ability to transcend what was a content management system into something that's a little bit more about digital orchestration systems.
