In A Day's Work: "In any given day, I might be working with industry analysts or with field marketing people to show how we can help and what we've done for our customers," Spataro says, adding that he also contributes to product strategy, account development, and customer rollout. "I work with really interesting customers such as the United Nations and British Telecom," he says.

Spataro's role is an ideal one to peer into the future. "I'm really getting a sense in the software industry that collaboration is the next big thing," he says. "The 1990s was about personal productivity, but I think that now we're focused on group productivity."

Oddest Member Encounter: "At the time that I became involved with Open Text, I happened to be doing some rural technology work with the government of India. One of the villagers said, ‘I'm not sure I understand what you're doing, mister. But if it helps to make my water cleaner, I'm all for it.' That really brought home for me how valuable these solutions can be."

View From The Desk: "I'm in an inner office with no windows, but that's OK because I spend much of my time on the phone."

Outside Interest: "Anything outdoors, particularly mountain biking and soccer."

If Not Econtent, Then What?: "I speak Chinese, so I'd most likely be doing something in China or with international relations."
