Eileen Casey, Corporate Communications Manager, InXpo, Inc.
By Nancy Davis Kho - September 2009 Issue, Posted Sep 01, 2009 Print Version   Page 1 of 1

Job Function:
Eileen Casey works in the corporate marketing department for InXpo, a provider of virtual event solutions, doing both marketing and public relations. "Since virtual events like virtual trade shows, virtual career fairs, and virtual sales kickoff meetings have really taken off over the past few months, my focus has been on education and awareness-building," Casey says. She leverages social media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and InXpo's corporate blog, as well as customer outreach and internal communications, to underpin the company's marketing and educational messages.

Because education about virtual events is a key focus, Casey works with customers, partners, and other departments to develop best practices and how-to tips. "For example, I'll work with a customer to draft a case study, or with our client services group to plan an internal virtual event," Casey says. She also facilitates XpoTalk TV interviews, video interviews with people about events, virtual events, marketing, and other related topics.

In A Day's Work:
Casey starts her day by logging into InXpo's internal virtual business environment. "It's a great way for me to stay connected with my colleagues since I work from home most of the week," Casey says. Between the calls with customers, partners, or internal departments that take place throughout the day, Casey may coordinate an interview with a reporter, shoot an XpoTalk video, schedule an internal training video, or draft a post for the company's internal blog.

Most Memorable Customer Encounter:
"I was on a call with one of our publishing clients who asked if I was related to the famous Chicago Caseys and started asking me about my entire family, even my husband. ... I had no idea how he knew everyone. It turns out that he worked with my brother-in-law's family rep firm years before. It just goes to show what a small world we live in."

View From The Desk:
"When I do work in the office, I sit in one of the guest offices and realize how quickly we're growing, as there are many new faces each time! At home, I have a view of my backyard, which is in the suburbs, so I do get a little nature in my day."

Outside Interest:
"I enjoy spending time with my husband and kids, having a glass of wine with friends, reading, and seeing movies whenever I can."

If Not Econtent, Then What?
"I've worked on movies earlier in my career and I wouldn't mind writing a screenplay one day."
