It's the time of year when predictions abound, and in the digital content world, few things are cause for more speculation than mobile revenues. ABI Research data says mobile app revenue will top out at over $30 billion by the end of the year, PCMag reports. That is nearly double what apps raked in last year.
The one area that might provide better fodder for speculation than mobile content, is social media. With that in mind, BIA/Kelsey is looking even further down the road, reporting that it expects social media ad revenue growth of just under 20% (19.2 to be axact) over the next four years, resulting in doubling of revenue by 2016. Native ads seems to be the big winner though-think Sponsored Stories and Promoted Tweets-as BIA/Kelsey expect this area to grow to a value of $3.9 billion.
But what about mobile-social ad revenue, you ask? Well, BIA/Kelsey expects a bump from $500 million in 2012 to $1.5 billion four years down the road.
