There's a new music subscription service in town. Beats Music, the brainchild of Jimmy Iovine, is now available for Apple devices. According to GigaOm, the app launched ahead of its anticipated release on Jan. 21, but this first version isn't final. The app will also be available in the Google Play store before too long.

In a move that does not lack for irony, Flipboard says it is aiming to make the reading experience better by (get this!) copying magazines. According to Gigaom, Flipboard launched new features on January 29, and will continue to roll them out to all its users over the coming weeks. These features are designed to make it easier for readers to scan the day's big headlines in the categories that most interest them. These features can be found in the "Cover Stories" stream.

The Search Agency, a global online marketing firm independent U.S. search marketing agency, released its quarterly State of Paid Search Report for Q4 2013, which found that after three quarters of sequential growth in impressions, Bing's impressions declined last quarter. Additionally, mobile continued to gain market share over desktop, with one-fifth of all clicks coming from smartphones, and one-eighth coming from tablet devices.

According to the letter Netflix sent to shareholders in the last quarter of 2013, it is exploring tiered pricing options, but only for new members. In April of last year, Netflix introduced a 4-concurrent stream option for $11.99 to "begin our evaluation of plan tiering." Now, Netflix is looking at adding more tiers.

Brightcove Inc., a provider of cloud services for video, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire substantially all the assets of Unicorn Media, a provider of cloud video ad insertion technology. Based on a $14 price per share of Brightcove common stock, the transaction is valued at approximately $49 million. The purchase price consists of approximately 2.9 million shares of Brightcove stock and approximately $9.0 million of cash used to pay transaction and other expenses of Unicorn Media.

It started when Gibson Security claimed Snapchat's API was vulnerable. Snapchat responded on its blog by saying there were "theorhetical" dangers, and that it had implemented safeguards to help address book information safe.
