Privacy focused search engines StartPage.com and Ixquick.com are combining forces to make a bigger impact on privacy: Ixquick has rebranded as "StartPage by Ixquick." Like StartPage, "StartPage by Ixquick" will privately give users actual Google search results in full anonymity. The company will no longer actively market Ixquick, but will still offer the classic Ixquick metasearch results, from a combination of other search engines, at www.ixquick.eu.

There are now few places within the customer journey that can't be bolstered by content, finds "Content Marketing's Evolution: The Age of Hyper-Personalization and Automation" released from Seismic, an end-to-end sales enablement solution, and Demand Metric. According to the more than 180 B2B enterprise stakeholders surveyed, lead generation (70% of respondents) is the most cited objective for B2B content marketing initiatives, and sales team support and enablement (64%) is the second-most cited objective, surpassing both thought leadership efforts (58%) and web traffic generation (56%), among other objectives. Eighty percent of respondents also indicate that these objectives are better met when content is personalized.

Retale, a location-based mobile platform that helps shoppers save on purchases from retailers and brands, announced the results of a commissioned study examining ad blocker adoption on PC and mobile devices. 500 adults across the U.S. were polled for this study between January 18-25, 2016. According to the results, 57% of those surveyed said that they use an ad blocker to prevent viewing display ads while on a PC.

Despite its importance to consumers, email is falling behind social media when it comes to customer service, with UK brands answering just 38% of emailed questions, according to a new study. Twitter (48% success rate) and Facebook (44%) are both more accurate and faster at delivering responses, although a lack of consistency between channels is undermining the overall customer experience. Overall, across email, the web, and Twitter, brands were only able to correctly answer 51% of questions that were put to them.
