Quirky, a company that collaboratively designs consumer products and shares revenue with its online community, has raised $6 million in Series A capital.? Quirky's Series A funding round was led by RRE Ventures and included participation from Village Ventures, Contour Venture Partners, Lowercase Capital, and a small group of angel investors. Prior to the closing of this round, Quirky had raised $1.6 million in seed capital from friends and family.

A jury in the District Court of Utah issued a decision in the long-running copyright battle between SCO Group and Novell over ownership of copyright assets associated with the Unix operating system. The jury found that Novell owned copyrights associated with the operating system, denying the SCO Group's claims that it was the rightful owner and a request for punitive damages of $215 million.

A national survey recently conducted by Arbitron Inc. and Edison Research found that 49% of those surveyed believed that newspapers will cease to exist in the future, to be replaced primarily by online news sources. The results represent a sharp jump from just three years ago, when only 27% expressed a similar sentiment.
