Oxford Bibliographies Online, an online arm of Oxford University Press (OUP), is opening its doors. The new service creates bibliographies in certain OUP subject areas. At present, Oxford Bibliographies Online is available in classics, Islamic studies, social work and criminology, with an additional 10-12 subjects coming later this year.

Spredfast, an Austin, Texas-based enterprise social media management system, netted $1.6 million in funding from Austin Ventures. Funds from the Series A round will go toward building the Spredfast brand and business development.

PubMatic, a company that provides online publishers with technology and services to increase advertising revenue, closed a Series C funding round worth $7.5 million. All told, PubMatic has raised $18 million in total.

A new collection of ebooks for government agencies and institutions has been released by ebrary. Government Complete, as the collection is called, features more than 47,000 ebooks and other titles from over 425 publishers, including McGraw-Hill, MIT Press, Oxford University Press, and Wiley.

A new partnership will add the British Library's Electronic Table of Contents File (ETOC) to EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS). ETOC was created to identify journal articles and conference papers from the British Library's Document Supply collections. The resource includes more than 36 million records providing broad subject coverage across all academic disciplines, with 2.5 million articles being added each year.

The percentage of Americans age 12 and older who have a profile on one or more social networking Web sites has reached almost half (48 percent) of the population in 2010, according to the new national survey from Arbitron Inc. and Edison Research, "The Infinite Dial 2010: Digital Platforms and the Future of Radio." This is almost double the level from two years ago (24 percent in 2008).

Quirky's Series A funding round was led by RRE Ventures and included participation from Village Ventures, Contour Venture Partners, Lowercase Capital, and a small group of angel investors. Prior to the closing of this round, Quirky had raised $1.6 million in seed capital from friends and family.
