Vizrt entered into a terms sheet with LiberoVision through which Vizrt will purchase all of the issued and outstanding share capital of LiberoVision. The purchase will occur in three installments: 60% upon signing of the definitive agreement, 20% upon approval of the financial statements of LiberoVision for the year 2011, and 20% upon approval of the financial statements of LiberoVision for the year 2012.

Novell, Inc. announced that it has entered into an agreement through which it will be acquired by the Attachmate Corp. at $6.10 per share, or approximately $2.2 billion. Novell also announced it will sell certain intellectual property assets to CPTN Holdings, LLC, a consortium of technology companies organized by Microsoft, for $450 million in cash.

Quark partnered with IXIASOFT in order to integrate Quark XML Author, an XML authoring and editing add-on for Microsoft Word, into DITA CMS, IXIASOFT's content management product. IXIASOFT reports that that this collaboration will allow non-technical subject matter experts to create content without the need for complex DITA or XML editors.

MarkLogic Corp. released updated toolkits that allow content authors to more easily access, reuse, and repurpose content created using Microsoft Office. The toolkits contain customizable applications for Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint that enable authors to tag, search, and reuse previously created content.

The United Nations-based World Summit Award announced the winners of its contest to determine the best mobile content and apps. The winners will be called on stage at the Abu Dhabi Gala on December 6th. India and the United States led the field with 4 awards each in the 8 categories of the WSA-mobile. Russia and Germany scored high in content quality with 3 winners each. The contest saw participation from more than 420 products from nearly 100 UN member states.

The IP Solutions business of Thomson Reuters is showing off the upcoming Japanese Language Search functionality in Thomson Innovation, the company's intellectual property research and analysis program. The Japanese search capability will be publicly available in December and will let researchers search Japanese patent documents in Japanese and seamlessly link to global patent content for comprehensive research.

Cambridge Journals Online, the online publishing service for journals at Cambridge University Press, has launched a mobile version to help readers browse or carry out research on the move. CJO Mobile (CJOm) offers a streamlined version of the journals platform CJO and allows users to search for journal content, read articles, save favorite articles, and register for journal content alerts on their hand-held devices. Anything saved in mobile can be picked up again when back at a desktop machine, and vice versa.

IBM completed the acquisition of Massachusetts-based Netezza, a creator of data warehouse appliances with which IBM initiated a definitive acquisition agreement in late September. Netezza's appliances are geared towards analytics, and the two companies had been strategic partners for several years.

On Monday, Facebook revealed the details of its rumored "Project Titan," a communication project that was speculated to be a rival to Google's popular Gmail service. Sony announced that its wireless Reader Daily Edition is now available in select retail outlets and online at SonyStyle.com. Vizrt Ltd., a provider of content production tools for the digital media industry, announced an agreement with Informa plc, a UK-based publishing company with over 2,500 subscription-based information services in their portfolio.
