Gale, part of Cengage Learning announced the release of British Literary Manuscripts Online, Medieval and Renaissance, the second installment of the British Literary Manuscripts Online series. Following the release of the first installment in May 2009, this additional digital archive brings nearly 565,000 pages of unique author manuscripts into the hands of students, educators and researchers.

ChaCha, which achieved a significant financing round in the fourth quarter of 2010 according to analysts, closed $3 million of additional funding-including $900,000 of outstanding warrants from new investor Qualcomm Ventures. This extends the round led by Silicon Valley investors VantagePoint Venture Partners, and Rho Ventures in October 2010. ChaCha is a free, real-time answers service, and has answered over a billion questions since inception.

Baynote, announced that it has closed a $13 million Series C financing round. The investment round was led by SingTel Innov8, the corporate venture arm of the SingTel Group. All existing investors, including Hummer Winblad, Steamboat Ventures, and JK&B Capital also participated in the round. Baynote also announced that former SAP executive Doug Merritt has been named president and CEO.

Lands End is launching its new digital catalogs via an app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch. The company launched its digital catalog this January with an app that features enhanced functions, including touch, pinch, and zoom gestures. Future versions will also include unique content and video.

TagMan, a tag management system with real-time attribution for enterprise e-commerce, announced it has closed $2.25 million in Series A funding led by Greycroft Partners. Other investors in the round include iNovia Capital and Angels. TagMan previously raised $2.1 million in Angel funding, the most recent in February 2010 led by Cambridge Angels and the London Business School E100.

KPEye analyzes the historical success of keywords over hundreds of thousands of campaigns for clicks that convert into leads. Enterprise cloud computing company Salesforce.com announced it has completed its acquisition of Dimdim for approximately $31 million in cash. Founded in 2007, Dimdim develops real-time communication technologies, including presence, messaging and screen sharing. According to Salesforce.com, the company will use the acquisition to bring new real-time communication capabilities to the Chatter collaboration platform.

Children's publishing company Scholastic, Inc. released online learning resource TrueFlix, which includes digitized nonfiction titles from the Children's Press book series True Books. With the tool, teachers in grades 3-5 can help build students' subject content knowledge in science and social studies. Forty-seven titles to date have been digitized with more to come; topics range from climate change and black holes to the Declaration of Independence.

According to the DisplaySearch Q4'10 Quarterly TV Design and Features Report, internet-connected televisions are forecast to grow to over 122 million in 2014. The report goes on to detail that the growth was fueled by the Japanese market during 2010, and notes that emerging markets such as Eastern Europe will continue driving growth between now and 2014.

Twitter announced that it was acquiring the team that developed Fluther, a social question and answer website. The company is bringing aboard four engineers and a designer from the popular site, including Fluther's founders. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to a recent SEC filing by group-coupon site Groupon, the company has already raised $500 million out of an ongoing $1 billion fund-raising round thanks to participation from several investors, including Russian venture capital firm Digital Sky Technologies. The information was derived from a Securities and Exchange Commission form D Notice of Exempt Offering of Securities which was filed by the company on Dec. 30.
