Spectra Logic announced that it is now offering free data integrity verification for its complete series of tape libraries from SME to Enterprise. The company's BlueScale Data Integrity Verification ensures that data written to tape is retrievable now and into the future. According to Spectra, its tape libraries are currently the only tape storage systems that actively, automatically check the media and the data on tape throughout the storage life of the data.

ThingLink, a provider of image interaction tools, and SoundCloud, an audio platform, announced a collaboration of technologies that enables anyone to add sound and music directly to their images. Users can link a SoundCloud waveform player to any photo or picture, connecting the picture and its viewer to sound effects, music, voice annotations, and narrations.

The Hearst Corporation has joined with Analog Analytics to offer daily deals to supplement its online revenue. Analog Analytics is a white-label local daily deals service that offers digital coupons and deal certificates, which reportedly works with more than 850 publishers and broadcasters, including NBC, CBS, and MediaNews Group.

AT&T agreed to acquire T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom for $39 billion of combined cash and stock. According to AT&T, the acquisition provides the network assets necessary to add capacity, and it will offer the carrier an opportunity to improve network quality for customers of both AT&T and T-Mobile.

An agreement between EBSCO and IGI Global will allow metadata for 131 journals and more than 1,500 reference books to be added to the base index of EDS. IGI Global is an international publishing company that specializes in scholarly research publications and databases. Metadata that will be available via EDS includes IGI Global's peer reviewed journals, which focus on information/computer science and technology applied to business and public administration, engineering, education, medicine and healthcare, and social sciences.

Online reference service Credo Reference signed an agreement to expand the M.E. Sharpe content available through its platform. Users will now have access to the added content as a Credo Reference Publisher Collection and the forthcoming Subject Collections. M.E. ActiveDocs announced integration between Salesforce.com and its Opus software. Salesforce.com will now let users take advantage of Opus' Data View architecture, which lets Opus users create custom services that use standard web services provided by other systems to pull data and insert it into required documents. This allows multiple data sources, both internal and external to the company, to be used to generate a single document.

The APIs let developers construct custom feeds of USA TODAY's music, movie, and book reviews going back as far as 2004, and can also provide access to a customized feed of USA TODAY Snapshots, easy-to-read statistical graphics that present information on different issues and trends.

The University System of Ohio and Flat World Knowledge have teamed up for a joint pilot program that will allow 1,000 Ohio students to receive digital textbooks for free. Faculty in the pilot who select Flat World textbooks for their courses, and agree to participate in a research project focused on student learning, can offer their students free access to the Flat World Knowledge suite of digital learning materials and low-cost access to print textbooks.

Springer Science+Business Media is expanding its open access offerings with the acquisition of 12 journals from Hindawi Publishing Corporation, a commercial publisher of peer-reviewed journals covering a wide range of academic disciplines. The journals include seven titles published in cooperation with the European Association for Signal Processing, as well as four mathematics journals and one medical journal. The takeover of the twelve journals is scheduled for the end of March.

IBM announced its $38 million investment in the new IBM Asia Pacific Cloud Computing Data Center in Singapore, which aims to provide businesses with cloud computing solutions and services.
