AT&T announced the availability of AT&T Mobile Barcode Services, which allow businesses to create, publish and manage 1D (UPC) and 2D (QR and Data Matrix) barcodes. AT&T Mobile Barcode Services include AT&T Code Scanner, a free mobile application preloaded on many AT&T mobile devices, that uses smartphone cameras to scan barcodes found in magazines, stores, websites and billboards.

OverDrive launched the free OverDrive Media Console app for Windows Phone. The app will give readers at 15,000 public, school, and corporate libraries the ability to download ebooks and audiobooks directly to their Windows Phone. Users can use the app to find a library that offers digital books, and then download EPUB ebooks as well as MP3 audiobooks.

Corporations will be able to make their ebooks and research materials more accessible to researchers through a more powerful search experience. Figures released by IAB Europe showed a revival in digital Display in 2010, according to the group. Thanks to an average growth rate of 21.3%, the organization reports that Display overtook Search advertising as the fastest growing online ad format in Europe. Search increased 15.1% in the same period across the 25 markets measured. Video, mobile, and social media all contributed to the powerful performance of Display.

ADmantX designed an advanced semantic page-level analysis that examines reader emotions, behaviors, motivations, and intentions to match ads with similar emotional appeal, without using tracking cookies. The round represents the first outside funding since ADmantX was spun off last year from Expert System.

EBSCO Publishing merged with the H.W. Wilson Company to improve discovery services for libraries. EBSCO databases will have enhanced indexing because the Wilson controlled vocabularies will be integrated into EBSCO's controlled vocabularies. Subscribers of Wilson databases will be able to search the EBSCO Discovery Service for all Wilson indexing, abstracts, and full text.

Bloomsbury Reader will publish books currently unavailable in print where all English-language rights have already reverted to the author or the author's estate and where there is no edition currently in print.
