Demandware, Inc. unveiled a prototype application called Facebook Shop that lets users extend ecommerce to the more than 600 million users of Facebook by selling directly through a branded Facebook store. Through the Facebook Shop application, retailers can set up a storefront on Facebook with all of the capabilities of the Demandware Commerce platform.

Imtiger Technologies released SuperTintin version 1.2, a Windows application that enables users to record audio and video streams, including Skype and MSN phone calls and videos. Instead of using screen-capture techniques to collect the audio and video streams, SuperTintin captures the original media data, so users can open, close, or resize windows during the recording without affecting the quality of the recorded videos.

LinkedIn, the largest professional social network, went public with an IPO last week, with 7,840,000 shares of common stock. Of the total number of shares, 4,827,804 are being offered by LinkedIn Corp. and 3,012,196 are offered by selling stockholders. LinkedIn will not receive proceeds from the sales of shares by the stockholders.

Thomson Reuters announced that Building Simulation, an international journal co-published by Springer and Tsinghua University Press, is now listed in the Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E). The English-language journal is part of Springer's Chinese Library of Science (CLoS), which currently includes 94 journals. According to Springer, CLoS is the largest collection of research from China in English.

Bowker released its annual report on U.S. print book publishing, compiled from from the company‘s Books In Print database. Based on preliminary figures from U.S. publishers, Bowker is projecting that traditional U.S. print title output in 2010 increased 5%, despite the increased popularity of ebooks. The output of new titles and editions increased from 302,410 in 2009 to a projected 316,480 in 2010.

Facebook is adding a new Send button to its popular social networking service. The button is designed to replicate the functionality of "E-mail to a friend" options popular on some websites, and is meant to allow links or pages to be shared among groups of friends on the service. Oxygen Accelerator, a new investment program that offers technology start ups intensive mentoring and training, was launched today in Birmingham, U.K. Oxygen Accelerator will partner with Birmingham Science Park Aston (BSPA) to offer 10 teams evergreen funding of up to £20,000 (about $32,800 U.S.), which is repayable once sufficient investment is received or the business can afford to repay it. The 10 teams will attend a 13-week boot camp in BSPA starting Sept. 1, 2011, where their projects will receive direction from a team of mentors.

Cabinet NG announced the latest version of CNG-SAFE 7.0, which offers scheduling, document management, and workflow management capabilities. Before the release, previous versions only offered document and workflow management, and users had to manage scheduling in a separate system. In CNG-SAFE 7.0, the embedded scheduling tool allows schedules to be assigned at the cabinet, folder, and document levels.
