EasyBib worked with Google to introduce a feature that can associate EasyBib bibliography projects with papers in Google Docs. The student-friendly enhancement allows users to link new or existing Google Docs with the bibliographies they are working on; the users can then access their Google Docs directly from the EasyBib site.

Google is performing a "fall spring-clean" over the coming months, according to its blog. As reported on paidContent, the company is shutting down some of its products and services, and modifying some of its existing products to incorporate features from the discontinued products. Among the shuttered products is Google's Fast Flip.

The AOL Huffington Post Media Group is working with ebook distributor BookBrewer to release two ebook titles on Sept. 20. For $4.99 each, the ebooks can be purchased from the Amazon Kindle Store in the U.S., Germany, and U.K.; Barnes & Noble Nook Bookstore; Apple iBookstore; and Kobo.

Reports of a second Amazon tablet have surfaced in Taiwan. DigiTimes cites sources who say that Amazon will start manufacturing a 10-inch tablet in Q1 2012. Amazon is slated to come out with a smaller, 7-inch tablet device in October, although nothing has been confirmed by Amazon.

Amazon launched the Kindle Daily Deal, which offers Amazon customers a discount on one Kindle book each day. The deals will start at midnight Pacific time and continue for a 24 hour period. The discounted titles may be ones which Amazon, rather than the publisher, sets the price on.

Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, Inc., has stepped down from the position of CEO, saying he was unable to continue to fulfill his duties. COO Tim Cook will be filling his shoes as CEO. Jobs resigned from the position on Wednesday, and will continue as chairman of the board of directors.

Zinio, a global magazine newsstand, became one of the three highest-grossing apps for iPad, beating out Angry Birds. The two highest-grossing iPad apps were Smurf Village and a productivity suite. It was the most popular iTunes News app in 52 countries, and its Android app has been installed more than 300,000 times in the first 60 days of its launch on Android.

According to a Deloitte report, wireless telecom companies in the U.S. may invest from $25 billion to $53 billion in supporting and creating 4G wireless networks between 2012 and 2016. The investment would create 371,000 to 771,000 jobs and increase gross domestic product (GDP) by $73 billion to $151 billion.

Skype will acquire GroupMe, a group messaging company founded in 2010 which lets users form impromptu groups with which they can text message, share data, and make conference calls free of charge. The price is reported to be between $50 million and $85 million. GroupMe service is supported on Android, iPhone, BlackBerry, and Windows phones.
