People Magazine announced the company's mobile site will become fully optimized, according to paidContent. Using HTML5, m.people.com will be formatted to fit smart phones up to 7 inches in size. Along with the size change, the site will offer readers complete desktop content, including celebrity blogs and a snap banner at the bottom of the page.

Streaming platform company, Roku, announced the company has received $45 million in funding from News Corp, British Sky Broadcasting, and other companies. The June 2012 Triton Webcast Metrics report was released and it shows that the audience for internet radio service Pandora is growing. According to PR Newswire, Pandora had a weekly cumulative audience increase of 6% from March of 2012 to June 2012 in the adult 18-49 demographic. With the amount of total listeners in that demographic, it ranks Pandora as the largest radio network in the US.

Yahoo! announced earnings for the second quarter of 2012 were flat compared to the second quarter of 2011, according to paidContent. Some of the specific quarter-to-quarter numbers for Yahoo include: unique users up 2%, profits of $190 million compared to $191 last year, page views up 5%but minutes on site were down 10%, and the company ended the quarter with 12,500 employees, down from 13,400 last year.

MobiTV has withdrawn its request for an initial public offering, according to GigaOM. The company, which makes apps that allow users to watch live TV on smart phones, was hoping to raise up to $75 million with its IPO. The company sent the SEC a letter asking the bid be withdrawn based on what the company referred to as "unfavorable market conditions."

The Augusta Chronicle announced it will stop offering print-only subscriptions of the newspaper and will no longer have a surcharge for its digital platforms, according to Poynter. With this move, the Chronicle will offer one subscription that will cover both print and digital versions of the newspaper. This change is in effect now.

NBC News and parent-company Comcast announced an agreement to assume full control of MSNBC.com and its digital network from the Microsoft Corporation, according to NPR. The network has begun rebranding the MSNBC site and visitors will automatically be redirected to NBCNews.com. Eventually, it will become the address of MSNBC TV, being a web outlet for the cable network.

A recent Pew Research survey says that most readers don't know that they may be able to borrow ebooks from their local library. Pew says 12% of American ebook readers from 16-years-old and up, have borrowed an ebook from a library in the last year. Results show that ebook borrowers also tend to read more books than non-borrowers.

New research coming out of the UK shows that while online video consumption is up, the revenue it generates does not match up by a comparable level across connected devices. Looking to keep up with new tablets arriving on the market, there are reports that Amazon's Kindle Fire 2 could arrive as soon as this month, according to Wired. China Times reported that Amazon has already ordered two million of the new Fire's from Quanta. Kindle Fire 2 will likely come with a new metal casing, as opposed to the plastic casing on the first iteration.
